Site of the Day: La Blogotheque

Do you remember when I posted about this site called the Black Cab Sessions? It is a site where artists are recorded performing in the iconic London black cab. Artist such as Lykke Li, Calexico, Death Cab for Cutie have all done performances on the Black Cab Sessions.

Well the French decided to up the ante with Lab Blogotheque. Instead of a black cab, these frenchmen and women record artists’ performance almost everywhere such as a loft, a park even an elevator. They called the performances Take Away Shows.

About the Take away shows

Every week, we invite an artist or a band to play in the streets, in a bar, a park, or even in a flat or in an elevator, and we film the whole session. Of course, what makes the beauty of it is all the little incidents, hesitations, and crazy stuff happening unexpectingly. Besides, we do not edit the videos so they look perfectly flawless, instead we keep the raw sound of the surroundings. Our goal is to try and capture instants, film the music just like it happens, without preparation, without tricks. Spontaneity is the keyword. The Take away shows exist since April 2006.

La Blogotheque has amazing list of artist that have performed for them including Fleet Foxes, Lykke Li, Bloc Party, Bon Iver, Sebastien Tellier, Jose Gonzales, Vampire Weekend, Andrew Bird, Pigeon John and more.  Check out the some of the performances below.
