Bob James gets Jettin’


This morning I’ve decided to explore the music of an artist we have (amazingly) not yet played on the 7 o clock sample. I’m talking about fuzion jazz pioneer BOB JAMES.
Bob James is most popular for “Angela”, the instrumental theme from the sitcom Taxi. His body of work is impressive, with a catolog of over 30 albums, all of which are pretty darn great!
Today we are exploring a track from his 1979 release LUCKY SEVEN.

That funky little number was used by the Digable Planets on their 2nd album BLOW OUT COMB. Producer Silkworm, who later embarked on a solo career under the name King Britt, had an extensive collection of jazz records, he used to create the Planet’s signature sound.
