When Lucas Smiles

This week on 7 O’Clock Sample, we continue to explore tunes from the 1930s…

Yep the 1930s!  Dust of the 78s and get your gramophones ready!

First we will take it back to 1935, for a track from the KING OF SWING himself Mr. Benny Goodman.

In the mid-1930s, Benny’s band was one of the most popular in all of America.  He shaped the way we listen to music today, and at a time of segregation, economic depression and cultural re-definition, Benny’s music broke down walls.  He in many ways, is still super relevant to pop music.  Here is a great example of why….

That’s LUCAS, from his album Lucacentric. This video was directed by camera genius  Michel Gondry, and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video, Short Form.  Lucas has since gone on to work with stars like Britney Spears, DJ Steve Aiko feat Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Sean Kingston, Toni Braxton and Sly and Robbie.
