What Don’t You Sample?

This week’s theme on 7 o’Clock sample is a journey through time…

NEW SONGS, OLD SAMPLES.

This week I’ve decided to look at new songs that sampled old tracks.  Today’s sample takes us all the way back to 1947…

The sassy and sensual sounds of the lovely Ms. Peggy Lee.  This track was written in 1936 by Kansas Joe McCoy. It was a favorite of Peggy’s and while she was working with Benny Goodman in the mid 40s, he made a new arrangement for her, that became one of her biggest hits.

Fast forward 60 years later, and head to Belgrade, where you will find Serbian Producer / Deejay Gramophonedzie.

He has been producing for about a decade now, and earlier this year released his newest single on Virgin records called “Why Don’t You.”

Check it out!
