Best Coast is Crazy for You.

Love-sick low-fi pop princess Bethany Cosentino is looking for love in all the right places. Not only has Best Coast conquered the hearts of those in her sandy home Los Angeles, but this weekend she made quite the impression at Pitchfork Music Festival. Although she wasn’t the only beach fanatic there that day – Beach House, Washed Out and Surfer Blood were all present – she definitely ranked highly among the other seaside musicians.

Along with her ex-babysitter Bobb Bruno, Cosentino radiated the stage with her faded echoes of heartbreak, longing for a boyfriend and hitting the beach. On stage in a pair of shades, a vintage Reebok tank and her baby blue electric guitar, BC made being in love with love look cool.

The new Best Coast album, Crazy For You, is filled with confessions like “You never tell me how you really feel” and “I wish you were my boyfriend.” Although these songs may seem pathetic and desperate on the surface, Cosentino is really just saying what everyone else is too afraid to say out loud. She turns all of the self-consciousness of relationships into one big jam session on the beach. It allows people to rock out their insecurities instead of sulk, which is Cosentino’s specialty.

My favorite track on the album is “When I’m With You,” a love ballad (obviously) in which Cosentino simply repeats the phrase “When I’m with you, I have fun” in the catchiest way imaginable. Watch the video to get a glimpse of her ideal day on the beach with her potential boyfriend.

Some other key tracks are “Boyfriend,” “Our Deal” and “Crazy For You.” Follow her on Twitter to hear her idolize rappers like Drake or talk about her obsession with cats and don’t forget to take a look at her blog.
