Grace Weber’s got soul.

She’s got soul. That’s what you’ll say to yourself over and over as you listen to Grace Weber‘s music. The Wauwatosa-born singer/songwriter has already graced the Apollo in Harlem, had an appearance on the Today Show and made Oprah’s jaw drop – and she’s just getting started. By the way, she’s only 22.

After years in the Inner City Youth Gospel Choir of Milwaukee, Weber headed to NYU and has since spent her summers off playing in New York clubs and at Milwaukee’s Summerfest.

Weber calls herself an “indie soul,” which encompasses her unique repertoire as an artist. She has the ability to captivate an audience with her grandiose vocal range – reaching deep down to belt out a long note then eases into her smooth angel-esque choir voice. It’s hard to catch Weber in verse without her gentle smile; one can tell she truly believes every word she sings. Not only can grace sing her own songs, but she can do a mean Etta James or Tracy Chapman, which is not an easy gig. I have to confess, I definitely had her version of “Sunday Kind of Love” on repeat all throughout high school.

88Nine had her in the studio earlier this Spring and lucky for us, the indie soul herself will be in Milwaukee playing songs from her new jazzy EP August 13. Make sure you watch her new video for “Sparrows” more than once. She also has tons of videos on her MySpace. Expect to hear the full-length record soon!
