On the 24th of September, Georgia invades The Pabst Theater. Of Montreal and Janelle Monae will bring one of the most anticipated shows to Milwaukee. Both of these artists pushes limited of their craft especially through collaboration. Of Montreal appears on the latest Janelle Monae album, and now Beyone’s sister Solange appears on an Of Montreal track called “Sex Karma”. Check out the video below. (via The Couch Sessions).

Janelle Monae is Back in a “Big” Way

One of my favorite releases from 2008 came from Atlanta’s Janelle Monae.  Here sound was very hard to categorized, but that sound was amazing! Well she is backed with a forthcoming album  called the ArchAndroid, which is a follow-up to Metropolis Suite I of IV. The ArchAndroid will be released on May 18th, 2010.

According to her official blog, “The ArchAndroid” is an “EMOTION PICTURE” brought to you by Janelle Monáe and the Mad Minds of the Wondaland Arts Society. The star-studded featured cast includes the legendary Big Boi of OutKast, renowned poet Saul Williams, psychedelic dance-punk troupe Of Montreal, punk prophets Deep Cotton, and the Wondaland Arch Orchestra.

She released the track “Tightrope” featuring Big Boi of Outkast today on her website. Plus the song “Cold War” is also available. If this track is any indication what the album will be like, she will have another amazing album under her belt. She will be also on tour 2010. She will be at Schubas on the 30th and 31th of March.

Freebie: Trace Magazine’s Annual Black Girls Rule Issue

Some of you may know that I am a magazine freak.  One of my favorite magazines Trace just dropped their annual Black Girls Rule! issue.  On the cover is singer Keri Hilson (she is featured on Nas’ track Hero which you can hear on 88Nine RadioMilwaukee.  It also features Janelle Monae, Michelle Obama, The Brown Girls Burlesque (which I mentioned in an earlier post), The actresses of Spike Lee, Esperanza Spalding, producer and singer Muhsinah out of my old stomping grounds of DC, Destiny Child’s Michelle Williams, Stephanie McKay and more. The issue was guest edited by Spike Lee.
