Don’t Sleep On | Jake Troth

I recently got an email about this artist by the name of Jake Troth. I don’t really know that much about of them other than that he is originally from North Carolina and apparently he made a buzz with his remix of Kanye’s “Love Lockdown” almost two years ago. Troth is a singer/songwriter that just dropped a catchy single called “Material Things” produced by designer Alex Goose who is best know for his Blueprint III outakes mixtape. Check out the video and let me know what you think.

Wax & Facts: 2009’s Best Vinyl Artwork

#1 Vinyl Art - Muse "The Resistance"

As you may heard, vinyl sales are on the rise while CD sales are on a decline. There are many reasons why vinyl is so much better than those plastic coaster called CDs. For one, the sound is so much fuller and richer. Second, believe it or not, they are more durable than those plastic frisbees. Finally, the artwork is simply better on vinyl.  The size of the record allows for graphic details that you can’t get on a CD that is stuck in one of those silly jewel cases, which is one of the most fragile pieces of plastic I have ever seen. Just to show you that vinyl artwork is amazing and suitable for framing check out Play and Display’s  2009’s Best Vinyl Artwork.  The picture above is the number one album art. Below are #2-50. Enjoy.

How many of these albums do you have and which ones?

Last night just outside of NYC at All Points West Festival, Jay Z payed tribute to the Beastie Boys by covering No Sleep Til Brooklyn.  As you probably know, the Beastie Boys have had to cancel their summer festival schedule due to the recent news that Adam Yauch (aka MCA) has cancer.
