Freebie | Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, “I Learned The Hard Way”

On May 22nd, new funk legends, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings will bless The Pabst Theater in Milwaukee. It will be their first show since their 2007 sold-out show at Turner Hall (I was there, and it was amazing). The funk-masters will be touring support of their forthcoming album called “I Learned The Hard Way”, which will be released April 6th on Daptone Records. If you can’t wait for either the album or the show, here is little taste you can download to tie you over. It is the title track from their album.

Events:If you see one festival…

Roots Picnic

If you see one festival this year(besides Summerfest), you need to go to the Roots Picnic.  This festival is organized by the legendary Roots Crew and will be held in the city of Brotherly Love.  The lineup is crazy.  It features nothing but Rhythm Lab Radio favorites such as The Roots, Gnarls Barkley, Santogold, J*Davey, Sharon Jones & Dap-Kings, Diplo, Deerhoof, Esperanza.  And they will be more artists.  This festival will be crazy.  A few beers, some cheesesteaks, and some good music and I am in heaven.  Tickets go on sale on Saturday. I can tell you in my own inimitable what they are all about but I’ll stick to their press release. Besides they do a fine job telling you about themselves that I’ll let them explain… Continue reading
