We just added two new tracks to our rotation here at RadioMilwaukee.  We added new music from the new band The Virgins who we have blogged about here a couple of times, and new music from a Norwegian artist by the name of  Swell Session.

The Virgins are a 4 member band that formed in 2005 and are based in New York City, New York. They have toured with Jet and opened for Sonic Youth and Patti Smith. They are currently taking part in the Nylon Summer Music Tour, opening for She Wants Revenge, with Be Your Own Pet and Switches(Wikipedia). I first highlighted them in our Don’t Sleep section on this blog. Their song “Rich Girls” which we are playing has been featured in the shows “Gossip Girl” and “Entourage”.  Think of the song as a Strokes tune that you can dance to.

The next artist is out of Norway and he goes by the name of Swell Session. His real name is Andreas Saag and he is one of Scandinavia’s top producers in the club jazz scene.  He was also part of the project Stateless which can also be heard on RadioMilwaukee. His latest project Swell Communication is collaboration with artists from around the globe including another producer by the name of Mr. Scruff out of the UK which is also the song you can now hear on RadioMilwaukee. A few posts ago, I picked the band The Virgins as a band not to sleep on. Their self-titled album just dropped.  Well Milwaukee, you have a chance to see them live tonight at Turner Hall with She Wants Revenge.  I know a lot of people are just going to see The Virgins, because of the blog and me spinning it out. Don’t Sleep On: The Virgins

First off, get your minds out of the gutter. The Virgins are a band and not what you were thinking. Jeez. Who are The Virgins? Well a very catchy soulful rock band out of NYC. The band has been compared to the Strokes, Chromeo, The Rapture, with a dash of George Clinton. I have been spinning their song “Rich Girls” out for a while. It is probably one of the most catchiest tunes in long time. People are loving it, and asking where they can get it. I even have played it several times on Rhythm Lab Radio. It is just that good. Their music has even been feature on HBO’s Entourage. They have even open for Patti Smith (that was their third show ever). Their album will be out June 3rd, and they will be here in Milwaukee June 13th with She Wants Revenge at Turner Hall Ballroom. So you now don’t have an excuse to be sleeping on them (again, get your mind out of the gutter).
