Lots of songs never make it to the radio that are getting lots of attention online. Live tracks, sanctioned and unsanctioned remixes, mash-ups, overlooked gems by unsigned artists. Every week on “Are You Feeling This,” we invite you to hear what the buzz is all about. You tell us what you think. Vote in the Are You Feeling This poll, leave a comment, send us an e-mail.
“Are You Feeling This” is sponsored by UniFi Records.
First up is the Milwaukee/Brooklyn duo French Horn Rebellion with “This Moment” from their album “The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion.
Next we have music from another Brooklyn outfit by the name of Frankie Rose and The Outs. We have the song “Candy from their self-titled debut release.
Frankie Rose has a reputation for her minimal, Maureen Tucker-like beats and iconic presence in such buzz-stirring bands as Crystal Stilts, Dum Dum Girls, and Vivian Girls. Those groups spearheaded a scene that mixed the sounds of lo-fi garage, big reverb-drenched Phil Spector-produced 60s girl groups, the noise aesthetic of the Jesus And Mary Chain with a touch of Velvet Underground and a strong DIY ethic.
Maximum Balloon is up next with a track featuring Yeah Yeah Yeah’s front woman Karen O. Maximum Balloon is a project from producer and member of another Brooklyn band TV On The Radio. The album is due out on September 21st.
Finally, we round out this week’s Are You Feeling This with more Brooklyn artists. This time is the duo Matt & Kim. We have the song Cameras from their 3rd studio album Sidewalks. The duo will be playing in Madison on September 21st at The Majestic Theater.
Listen to tracks below and vote for the one you are feeling the most.
